Wedding Looks for a Modest Bride
I’m guessing if you’re reading this, you’re a hijabi or at least someone who dresses modestly.
As a hijabi who got married two years ago, I felt extremely overwhelmed to find a wedding dress that was not frumpy but also super modest.
While I wouldn’t call my wedding dress 100 per cent “modest”, it did cover me up and I wore my hijab in a style that was very close to my every day look.
I have compiled a list of wedding dresses that vary in price and style. Not everyone strives for the big ballgown which can make it even harder.
Option 1: A-line gowns
A-Line dresses are beautiful, elegant and are naturally modest. The options above are all from David’s Bridal and come with sleeves already attached!
If you’re a hijabi, no problem! Adding a solid layer underneath is an easy, affordable fix. Another great thing, these are all available in plus sizes! As a plus-size wearer myself, modest wedding dresses in my size were difficult to find back when I bought mine in 2016.
Option 2: Mermaid
You may be thinking, “How are mermaid dresses modest?!” Well, I am about to prove you wrong. My own dress was a mermaid. What I do not recommend is a tightly fitted mermaid with a corset because sitting down becomes a nightmare (true story). But I do recommend ones that I have highlighted up above! They’re classy, feminine and not frumpy.
Option 3: Ballgowns
I’ll be honest with you. I love the look of the ball gowns I chose above but they’re much pricier than the other six dresses than I have highlighted. That being said, they are designs that can be passed down to your future daughters, granddaughters etc. Ball gowns instantly scream feminine, cute and pretty.
I really hope this post sparked your imagination and helped you realize that dressing modestly on your wedding day is not hard!
I am thinking of doing monthly posts for the rest of 2020 on everything weddings. What do you all think? Comment below!
